Bath & Body Works’ newest collaboration brings to life a dazzling collection of products based on Disney Princess characters. The collection features six brand new fragrances inspired by some of the most beloved characters in the franchise: Disney’s Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Moana and Tiana. Each fragrance was carefully crafted with a Disney Princess character in mind and designed to capture their unique spirit, strength and resilience while transporting you into their worlds.
In honor of this special moment, we are giving a behind the scenes look into the development of these unique fragrances, and our final spotlight is on Jasmine.
Disney’s Jasmine exemplifies what it truly means to take control of your future — no matter what the obstacles or societal rules may be. In the Bath & Body Works Disney Princess Collection, Jasmine’s fragrance embodies how she defines her own path and stands up for what’s right.
“We were inspired by Jasmine’s elegance and inner strength when creating her fragrance,” says Mary Testa-Gough, associate vice president of product and fragrance development at Bath & Body Works. “The fragrance notes of jasmine flower, jeweled currant and soft woods truly highlight her journey of self-discovery and is a tribute to Jasmine’s character.”
Much like the fragrance, the packaging design was influenced by key moments and elements in Princess Jasmine’s story.
“Jasmine’s designs were inspired by her fashion in the Aladdin film, I took her iconic color scheme and reimagined what it would look like if I had to create a fabric specifically for her,” says Alenka De los Rios, a designer at Bath & Body Works. “The jasmine flower note can also be seen in the illustration with soft woods and jeweled currants being represented throughout the richness of the pattern in an elevated and luxurious way.”
Testa-Gough and De los Rios hopes that anyone experiencing the fragrance feels transported into Jasmine’s world.
“Ultimately, the team’s desired reaction was likely one where the wearer or anyone experiencing the fragrance would immediately identify with Jasmine’s power and deep connection to her kingdom,” says Testa-Gough. “The jasmine flower connects to her graceful character while also representing her refined yet strong-willed, independence. The sparkling jeweled current adds a regal and mystical allure, and the warm woods captivates the wearer with an indulgent luxury that is reminiscent of Jasmine’s royal surroundings.”
“Jasmine’s fragrance and designs are created to transport and empower you,” says De los Rios. “I hope customers will sense the love, thoughtfulness and attention we have put into it, so it transports them to magical times.”
